[Major Achievements]
Former Chief Justice CHO Jin-man created the Seoul Family Court which only deals with domestic relations cases. In addition, he changed the method of witness examination in civil and criminal procedures, from the traditional method of ex officio examination where a presiding judge led the examination to cross examination by the concerned parties. In litigation proceedings, he simplified the writing of judgment and advanced the computerization of judicial affairs by making judgments written in Korean only, which previously written in Korean along with Chinese characters. In 1966, he enacted ¡®the rules on a judge¡¯s robe¡¯ and improved a judge¡¯s robe used since 1953.
