¡á On May 1, 2020, Chief Justice newly appointed 82 persons who graduated from law schools in 2020 as law clerks. The ceremony for the delivery of appointment certificate will be held at six High Courts and the Patent Court nationwide. ¡á 104 persons were selected in total this year based on the demand for law clerks from High Courts and law clerk annual quota. Among the appointees, 89 persons graduated from law schools, and 15 persons completed the course of the Judicial Research and Training Institute (JRTI). ¡á As a new judge appointment system where judges are selected among qualified people with sufficient legal experience who spend years practicing law and a judge system under which judges work up to the retirement age have been settled, the average age of judges has risen and they have longer legal experience. In this context, the role of law clerks will be much more important for speedy and efficient dispute resolution as they practically assist and prepare judges’ trial-related judicial work. |
