On June 9, 2023, Chief Justice KIM Myeong-su recommended the Supreme Court Justice candidates to President YOON Suk Yeol under Article 104 (2) of the Constitution.

Chief Justice Kim nominated Presiding Judge SUK Kyeong-hwan of Seoul High Court and Professor KWON Young Joon of Seoul National University School of Law as the new Supreme Court Justices, succeeding the positions of Justice Cho Jae Youn and Justice PARK Jung-hwa, who will retire upon completion of the terms of offices.
