- Civil case dispositions rose by 5.48% in the first half of the year 2023 - The judiciary announced that panels of three judges and single-judge benches disposed of a total of 124,111 civil cases in the first half of the year 2023, which represents a 5.48% increase from the same period in the previous year. The number further indicates a 5.59% increase compared to the average number of case dispositions during the first halves of the years 2019-2022. The judiciary views the increase as attributed to (1) the reorganization of the number of single-judge chambers upon the judiciary’s expansion of single-judge jurisdiction and (2) the normalization of the regular court proceedings after the COVID-19 crisis. After the pandemic, from early this year, the judiciary expects a synergistic effect for civil case dispositions with the follow-up measures for expanded single-judge civil jurisdiction and the efforts of each court to expedite trial proceedings. |
